DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a dynamic and skilled professional to join our team as the Vice President of Business Development. This individual will work closely with various team members, engage with senior leadership, and report directly to the CEO. The role involves establishing out-licensing agreements and collaborations for our pipeline in autoimmune and immuno-oncology. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the research and development of new drugs and be well-versed in the scientific, development, regulatory, and commercial aspects of early-stage drug development. They will also manage and optimize current and future business development activities and alliances with key partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve company goals focused on out-licensing and collaborations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate partnerships, alliances, and out-licensing opportunities with major pharmaceutical companies, focusing on the autoimmune and immuno-oncology sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Lead deal-making processes, including due diligence, valuation, contract negotiation, and transaction execution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, clinical, regulatory, and commercial, to align business development activities with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and present business cases, financial analyses, and strategic recommendations to the executive team and board of directors.
  • Support the management and optimization of existing partnerships and alliances to ensure successful collaboration and value creation.
REQUIREMENTS
  • PhD strongly preferred; MBA or equivalent advanced degree in life sciences, business, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven track record of successful deal-making with major pharmaceutical companies, with a focus on out-licensing and collaborations.
  • Extensive experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a deep understanding of the oncology space.
  • Strong sell-side relationships and experience out-licensing technology to big pharma.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive complex projects to completion.
  • Gravitas and credibility to effectively engage with senior leadership and key industry players.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to develop and present detailed business cases and financial models.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
