Title: Research Associate- Downstream Process Development
Status: 12-month contract
Location: Onsite in Woburn, MA
Hourly rate: $34
Position Summary:
The Pharmaceutical Development group is looking for a highly motivated Research Associate to support downstream process development initiatives to advance purification methods used in AAV vector production. The incumbent will carry out filtration and chromatography experiments to help develop a robust downstream process for one of the many AAV products in the Ultragenyx Gene Therapy pipeline. The ideal candidate will have some experience in purification of biologics in either a research or development setting.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in purification of biologics in either a research or development setting.
Responsibilities:
- Execute process development activities for chromatography (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion) and filtration processes including microfiltration, depth filtration, ultrafiltration, diafiltration, and sterile filtration.
- Prepare, analyze and present technical data in a small group setting.
- Document data in laboratory notebook and development reports
- Assist in daily laboratory duties including buffer preparation and equipment upkeep
- MS/BS in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related scientific discipline with 1-3 years industry experience
- Experience in biologics purification research and/or development
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong collaboration, team-working skills and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with good problem solving ability
- Experience with AKTA FPLCs and Unicorn desired
- Experience with AAV gene therapy desired
