Job Summary: -Under supervision, prepares patient and equipment and performs EEG and evoked potentials examinations. -Instructs and prepares patients and equipment for tests. -Performs EEG and Evoked Potential testing on patients of all ages in the EEG Department or at the patient s bedside. Determines and selects recording parameters based on each patient s diagnosis or complaint. -Takes recording, analyzes data, and, with assistance, prepares results for physician. Studies wave characteristics during test to detect evidence of brain disorders. -Completes checklists, writes clear narratives and/or enters data into computer files as appropriate. -Completes transcription and accurately processes physician orders according to policy. -Performs routine maintenance on equipment. -Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards. -Performs other duties as assigned. -May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need. -May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift. Schedule Notes:MONDAY-TUESDAY 0930-1900, THURSDAY-FRIDAY 0930-1900, THEN TAKE CALL 1-2 TIMES A WEEK WITH 1 SATURDAY CALL A MONTH Skills: Required Skills & Experience: -2 years prior experience as an EEG technician. -Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required. -Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions. -Minimum of 1 year experience is required. Preferred Skills & Experience: -N/A Education: Required Education: -High School diploma or GED is required. Preferred Education: -Graduate of an accredited EEG or END program with 1 year experience as an EEG technician. Required Certifications & Licensure: -Board of Registered EEG Technologist (ABRET). -(Or) The Certified EEG Technician (CET) registry is required. -BLS - American Heart Association. Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -N/A
