Sage BD Director

Job Id : 842629

Job description

Business Development Director – Sage Practice

Location: Dallas/remote
Reports to: CRO/CEO
Type: Full-time

About the Role

Our client, a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP), is investing in a new Sage sales practice and is looking for an experienced Business Development Director to lead this build out from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to shape a new practice area, own the go-to-market strategy, and build a pipeline and client base largely from scratch, backed by an established MSP with existing infrastructure, credibility, and cross-sell opportunities.

You will be the face of the Sage practice: setting the sales strategy, building relationships with Sage and its partner ecosystem, and closing new business across Sage’s product suite (e.g. Sage Intacct, Sage 200, Sage X3, depending on the practice focus).

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end to end sales strategy for the new Sage practice, from market positioning through to closed deals
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline of net new prospects across target verticals
  • Develop and nurture strategic relationships with Sage (vendor level) and relevant reseller/partner networks
  • Identify and pursue cross-sell and upsell opportunities within the MSP’s existing client base
  • Work closely with marketing to shape messaging, campaigns, and content that support practice growth
  • Collaborate with delivery and technical teams to ensure proposals are grounded in realistic, deliverable solutions
  • Represent the business at industry events, Sage partner forums, and networking opportunities
  • Track and report on pipeline health, forecasting, and practice KPIs to leadership
  • Help define hiring needs and mentor future BD hires as the practice scales

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven track record of new business sales within the Sage ecosystem (Sage Intacct, Sage 200, Sage X3, or similar), ideally in an MSP, reseller, or Sage partner environment
  • Experience building or significantly growing a sales practice or territory from an early stage
  • Strong existing network within the Sage partner and vendor community
  • Consultative sales approach with the ability to sell complex, multi-stakeholder deals
  • Comfortable operating with a good degree of autonomy in a newer, less established practice
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with credibility at C-suite level
  • Commercially minded, target driven, and comfortable owning a number

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling into finance, professional services, or mid-market industries
  • Familiarity with the wider MSP or managed services landscape
  • Existing relationships with Sage account managers or channel partners

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission structure
  • The opportunity to build and shape a new practice with genuine ownership
  • Support from an established MSP brand, infrastructure, and client base
  • Career growth potential as the practice scales, including team leadership opportunities
