Job Responsibilities
  • Works closely with Clinical Development Operations, Clinical Science, Finance Legal, Procurement and other teams to support vendor selection/management needs of clinical studies
  • Manages and negotiates day-to-day financial activities regarding vendor budgets for all phases of clinical studies
  • Knowledgeable about vendor budgets (CRO, Lab, Imaging, RTMS/IRT, etc.) and cost benchmarking for financial analysis
  • Ability to provide cost saving metrics
  • Manages clinical vendor relationships in conjunction with Clinical Development Operations
  • Coordinates communication from and acts as a liaison between internal/external stakeholders on the vendor budgets and vendor issues
  • Participates in or manages vendor Governance and oversight activities.
  • Manages clinical vendor relationships in conjunction with Clinical Development, serving as the primary point of contact for vendors in resolving contract scope and budget issues.
  • Develops templates and processes for vendor selection and vendor governance where needed
  • Assists with tracking workload and progress and status of clinical vendor budget/contracts
  • Supports Clinical Outsourcing with data collection and analysis
  • Collaborates effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Supports project teams in the resolution of vendor performance issues
  • Mentor and train junior staff and newly onboarding team members.
  • This position might have direct reports.
Qualifications:
Education
  • BA/BS in a Scientific, Business or Legal discipline, or related field; graduate degree a plus.
Experience
  • 8+ years of Biotech, Pharmaceutical, or CRO Outsourcing experience or relevant experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, written, and verbal skills.
  • Ability to drive the collection, organization, and analysis of financial and operational data.
  • Proficiency in contracting, financial, legal, and business acumen with global studies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Very knowledgeable about the Clinical Trial Process and various key players involved in running clinical trials.
  • Experience with managing or participating in vendor selection.
  • Vendor relationship management experience.
  • Robust knowledge of the clinical trial lifecycle and experience working directly with clinical operations, legal, and finance.
  • Experience interacting with a wide range of clinical trial vendors, initiating, and negotiating clinical trials contracts and budgets.
  • Proven experience in managing all levels of key internal and external stakeholders effectively by frequently soliciting input and gathering and incorporating feedback into process improvements as appropriate.
  • Proven time management skills and ability to be flexible to meet job demands and take on new initiatives and improvement efforts, exercises good judgment in all forms of communication, multi-task and have excellent attention to detail to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective contract solutions are achieved.
  • Ability to sustain high levels of performance in a constantly changing environment.
  • Experience with people management. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook are a must.
