Celebrating You This National Nurses Week

Every year, May 6–12 marks National Nurses Week—a time to pause, reflect, and thank the individuals who serve as the heart and soul of healthcare. But for those of us who’ve seen what nurses do day in and day out, one week will never feel like enough.

A Legacy of Dedication

The origins of National Nurses Week traces back to 1953, when Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health proposed a “Nurse Day” to President Eisenhower. While it took several more decades for it to become official, in 1990 the American Nurses Association (ANA) formally established May 6–12 as National Nurses Week—culminating on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Nightingale's legacy of compassion and reform lives on in you—the nurse who works past the end of your shift, advocates for your patients when no one else will, and shows up in both ordinary and extraordinary moments of care.

Your Impact Is Immeasurable

Being a nurse means more than caring—it means carrying. You carry the weight of long shifts, tough calls, and the emotional highs and lows of every patient encounter. You carry teams, families, and sometimes entire hospital units through the most critical moments. And still, you show up—with grace, grit, and empathy.

"Nurses are the ones who show up—when it’s hard, when it’s thankless, and when it matters most," shares Chris Sund, President & COO of GQR Healthcare and Uniti Med. "They don’t just care for patients; they carry their entire profession with courage and compassion. We see you, we thank you, and we remain inspired by the difference you make—every single day."

A Personal Thank You

To every nurse—whether you’re just beginning your journey or have spent decades in scrubs—we are endlessly grateful. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and your dedication does not go unappreciated.

"Nurses Week is a time to recognize the heart, resilience, and skill that nurses bring to every shift, every patient, and every moment," shares Alexis Kennedy, Chief Revenue Officer. "Your compassion and commitment are the backbone of healthcare, and your impact reaches far beyond the bedside. Thank you for showing up, lifting others, and leading with strength and grace — not just this week, but every day. We’re honored to celebrate you."
