ETF Strat Job Description


Our client currently oversees ETF trading, index arbitrage, and custom basket trading. They are highly focused on enhancing principle-oriented trading within the ETF space. This includes making product-specific improvements, employing fair value modeling for international ETFs, optimizing hedging strategies, and actively seeking out intelligent trades rather than passively market-making. They aim to identify trades with a favorable Sharpe ratio, with holding periods ranging from hours to days, and have the capability to warehouse associated risks using their internal risk book. With a concentration in equity, equity-linked, and equity-derivative securities, our client's Institutional Equity Division (IED) is renowned for its expertise in origination, distribution, and trading.

Responsibilities
 

  • Engage in trading and market making of block markets in exchange-traded funds (ETFs), spanning various asset classes such as domestic and international equity, fixed income, commodity funds, and equity futures.
  • Responsible for enhancing revenue-generating ETF principal strategies, which may involve systematic or semi-systematic approaches.
  • Execute risk management for trades exceeding $100 million and oversee inventory of greater than $1 billion.
  • Focus is often on international ETFs where premiums and discounts fluctuate, presenting opportunities for relative value trades.
  • Facilitate the ETF creation/redemption process.
  • Cultivate and manage customer relationships with active ETF market participants.

Requirements

Our client is ideally seeking individuals who can provide in-depth analysis and intelligence regarding significant ETF rebalancing activities, particularly those involving exposures across multiple ETFs, such as those conducted by institutional investors like IRAs. In addition:
  • 4+ years of ETF Trading experience with a focus on generating alpha through ETF arbitrage or similar strategies.
  • Proficiency in trading equity ETFs, with exposure to other asset classes.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of working within a team of traders and strategists to explore revenue-generating opportunities.


Salary Information

The base salary range for this role is expected to be between $150,000 and $250,000 annually. However, final compensation will be determined on an individualized basis and may include additional components such as commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and various benefit programs offered by our client.
